Sports (Deep Tissue) Massage

Sports (Deep Tissue) Massage

What is sports (deep tissue) massage?

Sports (deep tissue) massage is not just about relaxation, but about manipulating the soft tissue, including muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue, to achieve a therapeutic effect. It is used to:

  • Release muscle spasms/cramp
  • Reduce pain/discomfort/stiffness
  • Shorten Injury time
  • Prevent injury/increase flexibility/strengthen
  • Encourage focus/improve performance

Sports (deep tissue) massage affects the cardiovascular system by dilating blood vessels & helping them to improve circulation. This in turn drives fresh oxygen to the affected area hence increasing the speed of recovery. This form of massage also works to reduce stress and tension by promoting relaxation. The decrease in stress levels encourages focus and therefore a potential increase in playing ability and quality.

You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from sports (deep tissue) massage!

Anyone experiencing pain or stiffness in the muscles and other soft tissue, whatever the cause, may experience relief as a result of sports (deep tissue) massage. Your therapist will conduct an individual assessment to assess your condition and the suitable treatment options; it is important to decide on the right form of massage to assist your current pain, injury or future training program.

Sports rehabilitation

Sports (deep tissue) massage is carried out by all of the physiotherapists here at Truly Therapeutic, but clients with a specific sports-related problem would benefit from an appointment with Kathryn, our fully qualified Sports Rehabilitation Specialist. Sports (deep tissue) massage is just one of the tools Kathryn uses to treat sports injuries and get clients back to peak fitness as soon as possible.
